How to Manage Frizz During the Warmer Months
Now that the weather is getting warmer you will start to notice the challenge to keep frizz away. Curly hair gets frizzy when the humidity increases in the air. The outer layer of the hair takes in moisture from the air which causes the hair to swell and frizz. Although there is no way to eliminate frizz or the natural effects the weather may have on natural hair. There are some ways that you can minimize frizz during the warmer months. Here are a few tips and tricks to prevent frizz and help your curls flourish this summer.
Embrace the Frizz
Frizz is common for all curly textured hair types. Allow your hair to be free and embrace every part of it. We encourage you to embrace your crown as is.
Deep Condition Often
Deep condition weekly to hydrate, strengthen your strands, and to leave your curls shiny and healthy. Our Moisturizing Conditioner can be used as a deep conditioner weekly.to prevent frizz and to provide your hair with the nutrients needed to be healthy.
Avoid Heat
Heat styling often can burn your hair cuticle and disrupt your curl patterns. Taking a break from heat styling can be beneficial to your curls. Be sure to use heat protectants whenever you do plan on styling with heat tools.
Trim Regularly
Stay ready so you never have to get ready! Split ends are the beginning of frizz, so stop them before they start by getting your curls trimmed every 3 months.
Apply Products to Dripping Wet Hair
The best time to apply your stylers to your hair is while your hair is still wet. Start off with our Leave in Conditioner then follow up with our Moisturizing Cream and/or Nourishing Hair Oil to seal moisture. Be sure to focus on your ends and distribute all products evenly. Sealing moisture into your hair strands and being consistent with this routine will prevent frizz overtime.
Hood Dry or Diffuse Dry
We recommend hood drying for kinkier hair textures. A hooded dryer will make heat flow down, so it won't disturb the curls. Hood drying or diffusing also provide long lasting results for wash and go's, twist and braid outs.
Limit Touching Your Hair
We know touching your hair is very tempting. However, the more you touch your hair the more your hair will frizz up. If you love frizz and volume, then by all means fluff your curls. If you're looking for long lasting frizz free, defined curls, avoid touching your curls throughout the day.
